- Deep Breathing & Coughing — Prevent postoperative pulmonary complications.
- Diet Advancement — ERAS encourages early oral intake.
- Daily Pain & Symptom Check-In — Track pain, energy, mood, and any new symptoms to detect complications early.
- Wound / Incision Inspection — Check incision sites for infection (redness, drainage, dehiscence).
- Hydration & Nutrition Log — ERAS emphasizes early oral intake and adequate hydration.

- Persistent fast heart rate with fever, severe belly pain, or feeling very unwell suggesting a leak
- Worsening abdominal or shoulder pain with inability to keep down fluids
