- Deep mesh infection requiring intervention
- Bowel injury identified during or after surgery
- Hemodynamic instability or ongoing sepsis

- Early Ambulation — ERAS pillar — walking within hours of surgery prevents complications.
- Deep Breathing & Coughing — Prevent postoperative pulmonary complications.
- Diet Advancement — ERAS encourages early oral intake.
- Daily Pain & Symptom Check-In — Track pain, energy, mood, and any new symptoms to detect complications early.
- Wound / Incision Inspection — Check incision sites for infection (redness, drainage, dehiscence).
- Hydration & Nutrition Log — ERAS emphasizes early oral intake and adequate hydration.

- Severe, worsening groin or abdominal pain with vomiting (possible bowel involvement)
- A new, firm, very tender bulge at the groin that cannot be pushed back in
- Fever above 38.5C with spreading groin redness and severe pain (deep infection)
- Rapidly enlarging, painful scrotal swelling or a large expanding bruise (bleeding)
- Sudden chest pain or shortness of breath (blood clot concern)
