- Active infection at the recipient wound bed
- Grossly contaminated or necrotic wound (requires debridement first)
- Exposed bone without periosteum, exposed tendon without paratenon, or exposed cartilage without perichondrium (graft will not take)
- Poorly controlled diabetes with active wound healing impairment
- Severe peripheral vascular disease affecting the grafted region
- Active heavy smoking (significantly impairs graft take)
