- Heavy bleeding with large clots or inability to urinate (clot retention)
- Fever above 38.5°C with chills (urosepsis concern)
- Severe abdominal pain or abdominal distension (bladder perforation or peritonitis)
- Inability to urinate after catheter removal
- Signs of systemic infection (fever, rigors, confusion, low blood pressure)
- Persistent hematuria beyond 2 weeks that is worsening rather than improving
- Increasing bladder spasms or pelvic pain not responding to prescribed medications
- Cloudy or foul-smelling urine suggesting urinary tract infection
- Low-grade fever (38.0-38.5°C)
- New onset of urgency incontinence
- Catheter malfunction (no urine output, leaking around catheter, pain)
