- Active surgical site infection or prosthetic valve endocarditis
- Suspected prosthetic valve dysfunction or perivalvular leak
- Unhealed or unstable sternum

- Incentive Spirometer (Hourly) — Critical pulmonary hygiene to prevent atelectasis and pneumonia.
- Ankle Pumps & Quad Sets — Prevent DVT and maintain leg strength while activity is limited.
- Supervised Hallway Walking — Early mobilization is the cornerstone of ERAS cardiac recovery.
- Daily Pain & Symptom Check-In — Track pain, energy, mood, and any new symptoms to detect complications early.
- Wound / Incision Inspection — Check incision sites for infection (redness, drainage, dehiscence).
- Hydration & Nutrition Log — ERAS emphasizes early oral intake and adequate hydration.
