- Isometric Strengthening — Maintain muscle activation without joint stress.
- Weight-Bearing Walking (per surgeon) — Begin gait training with assistive device as prescribed.
- Ice & Elevation — Control swelling — a major driver of pain after orthopedic surgery.
- Daily Pain & Symptom Check-In — Track pain, energy, mood, and any new symptoms to detect complications early.
- Wound / Incision Inspection — Check incision sites for infection (redness, drainage, dehiscence).
- Hydration & Nutrition Log — ERAS emphasizes early oral intake and adequate hydration.

- Heavy bleeding from a portal or wound opening
- Fever above 38.5C with a hot swollen shoulder and drainage (joint infection)
- Severe arm swelling with chest pain or shortness of breath (clot/PE)
- Loss of sensation or motor control in the hand or fingers (nerve injury)
